New $60M Kangan Institute Health Hub Opens to Train Melbourne’s Future Workforce

“The opening of the new $60 million Kangan Institute Health and Community Centre of Excellence (HACCOE) represents a great day for Melbourne’s North”, says NORTH Link Executive Director Chris James.

The facility was opened on Thursday, 13 February, by Victorian Skills Minister Hon Gayle Tierney MLC and will train the next generation of health workers for Melbourne’s north. The state-of-the-art facility encompasses the latest technology, including simulation techniques.

NORTH Link’s Future Workforce report was released in 2022 and noted that health and community services is currently the largest workforce in Melbourne’s north and will be the fastest growing workforce segment out to 2030.

“I congratulate Kangan Institute CEO Sally Curtain and her team for calling for this facility and bringing it to fruition.”

“The opening is also a testament to regional co-operation with bodies such as Kangan Institute, NORTH Link, Hume City Council, DPV Health, the Broadmeadows Revitalisation Board and others supporting Kangan in its advocacy efforts.“

The request for funding for Health and Community Centre of Excellence (HACCOE) featured strongly in NORTH Link’s Pre-Budget submissions, as did the funding for the forthcoming Hume Technical School on the same site and Stage 2 of the Kangan Broadmeadows redevelopment (tba).
