Major advocacy win for Melbourne’s North as Beveridge Intermodal Precinct Launched
The Beveridge Intermodal Precinct was launched by Federal Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Minister Hon Catherine King MP on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
Located at the southern terminus of the inland rail freight corridor, the precinct will transform how freight moves across the country and inject billions of dollars in the Victorian and national economies.
It is expected to deliver major economic and environmental benefits including:
- Approximately $14 billion economic uplift for Victoria
- More than 17,000 associated jobs, with around 70% targeted for local workers
- Removal of an estimated 167,000 truck trips a year
- A reduction of about 12.1 million tonnes of CO2 over the next 25 years
- Preservation of around 500 hectares of land for green wedge purposes and longer-term environmental and social benefits
It is a key milestone on NORTH Link’s advocacy agenda, and we have achieved this win for Melbourne’s North in partnership with Mitchell and Whittlesea Councils and the Northern Councils Alliance.
