The Future Workforce: Melbourne’s North 2022

NORTH Link and its partners have released a major report on employment and skills called Future Workforce – Melbourne’s North 2022-2032. The report was compiled at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown in Victoria as well as the early stages of the recovery, between June 2021 and June 2022.

Feel free to ask our chatbot (below) any questions you would like answered from the Future Workforce Report.

The report’s production was project-managed by NORTH Link and the key sponsors of the work were the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (Office of Suburban Development), La Trobe University, Bendigo Kangan TAFE, GO TAFE, Melbourne Polytechnic and NIEIR, the compilers of the report.

Consultation took place widely and included over 250 individuals from industry, education, health, all levels of government and the not-for-profit sector. There were 7 industry roundtables and 35 consultations with organisations and individuals.

The strengths of the Melbourne’s North region include a strong manufacturing and logistics base (especially around food and beverage manufacturing), good freight infrastructure, including Melbourne Airport, Melbourne Wholesale Market, Hume Freeway and the Metropolitan Ring Road and a diverse, multicultural community.
