Driving innovative ERP analysis with Power BI
NORTH Link and Latrobe University – ERP Analysis
As part of this collaboration, Latrobe University business school students recently conducted an in-depth analysis of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The project aimed to help businesses make informed decisions when selecting an ERP system by evaluating various platforms based on critical business requirements.
The students collected open-source data on the top 30 ERP systems available in the market. Using Power BI, they developed an interactive tool that enables businesses to compare ERP solutions based on multiple factors, including:
- Costs: Subscription fees, licensing models, and implementation expenses.
- Features: Core functionalities such as finance, human resources, supply chain, and CRM.
- Modules: Availability and integration of additional modules.
- User Experience: Ease of use, interface design, and learning curve.
- Support: Availability of customer support, documentation, and community forums.
- Customisation: Flexibility to modify workflows, add-ons, and API integration.
- Security: Data protection measures, compliance with regulations, and risk management.
Additionally, the students created a filtering tool within Power BI that allows users to narrow down the most suitable ERPs based on their specific needs. The analysis was conducted with an unbiased approach, ensuring that businesses receive objective insights into ERP selection.
By leveraging data analytics and visualisation through Power BI, the students were able to create an insightful and user-friendly comparison tool. This initiative not only provided hands-on experience for students in data analysis, business intelligence, and ERP systems but also delivered valuable insights for businesses looking to streamline their operations through ERP implementation.
Through projects like this, NORTH Link continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that students gain real-world skills while supporting local businesses in making data-driven decisions. The success of this ERP analysis underscores the value of industry-academic partnerships in fostering innovation and workforce readiness.
If your business is interested in mentoring and providing opportunities for talented students to complete their internships, consider partnering with NORTH Link to collaborate on projects focusing on cyber security, data analytics, marketing, sales forecasting, operational efficiency and product performance evaluation projects.
